Solving Water Issues Through Technology
Sunda Technology Global delivers field-rooted technologies and builds locally tailored operations
to ensure that all 1.2 billion people in Sub-Saharan Africa can access safe and reliable water.

MISSION
Ensuring access to safe water
for all people in Sub-Saharan Africa
We begin by focusing on water, one of the most essential elements of rural infrastructure. Our aim is to establish a sustainable water supply system that ensures communities have consistent access to safe and clean water. To achieve this, we are developing a sustainable O&M (Operation and Maintenance) framework for community-managed water sources, such as hand pumps and public taps. A key component of this model is creating a user-friendly and affordable payment system that enables residents to pay water fees continuously and effortlessly, ensuring long-term viability.
VISION
Scaling resilient, Self-reliant communities across Sub-Saharan Africa
We aim to build resilient communities where residents can access essential services whenever needed, without waiting for external support, and thereby improve their quality of life through their own efforts. While the definition of a “resilient community” may be clear, transforming existing villages is never easy. The process itself is critical. By designing a scalable, repeatable transformation process, we work to replicate this model across multiple communities and achieve widespread impact.
Tackling the Water Issues in Sub-Saharan Africa
-
Long walks to distant water sources
Many children spend hours each day collecting water, preventing them from attending school and accessing education.
-
Diarrhea and other diseases caused by unsafe water
Contaminated water exposes children to harmful pathogens, causing diarrhea that can sometimes be fatal.
-
Risks of violence and wild animal attacks
Women and girls face risks like wild animal attacks and sexual violence sometimes leading to unwanted pregnancies, on the way to fetch water.
Our Core Strengths
-
Building Sustainable O&M (Operation and Maintenance) Systems
Building Sustainable Operation and Maintenance Systems
Building Sustainable Operation and Maintenance Systems
Sustainable O&M requires an efficient and effective field operation system. At Sunda Technology Global, we go beyond providing products by supporting community awareness before installation, performing regular maintenance, and ensuring a stable supply of spare parts, drawing on our extensive field experience to build lasting, sustainable operations.
-
Locally rooted product design
Locally rooted product design × Reliable manufacturing through collaboration with Japanese companies
SUNDA was developed by a Uganda engineer, who is also a co-founder, ensuring the design is tailored to the unique environment and lifestyles of Africa. As a Japan-originated social enterprise, we collaborate with Japanese manufacturing experts to establish a robust system for high-quality, locally mass-produced products that can be sustainably utilized throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.
-
Scaling up throughout Sub-Saharan Africa
Sustainable maintenance of water supply systems is a critical challenge not only in Uganda, our main area of operation, but across many African countries. At Sunda Technology Global, we aim to deliver "broad-based, scalable solutions" to this issue. Moving forward, we plan to expand our operations beyond Uganda to other countries across Sub-Saharan Africa.
